Normalizing Has Already Crossed a Line, Part II: Heteromorphism

In Monday’s post we talked about the attempt to normalize pedophilia, along with other sexual deviancies that have been normalized. There’s still so much, I don’t know if I’ll get it all in today’s post.

We’ll start with a little personal experience.

Last week we had our granddaughter, Little Political Sphere 1, visiting us for a sort of staycation. One of my favorite parts is getting to do story reading at bedtime. She was really slow getting ready for bed, though, because she was distracted by her tablet. So I confiscated it until she got her teeth brushed.

The tablet is a sturdy thing designed for kids, and only has access to things that are meant for kids. There are games, some of them interactive with other kids, and there’s some live-streaming that seems pretty silly to me, but she enjoys it. And there’s music.
I don't know if this is the brand,
but it looks about like this.

Anyway, while I was waiting for her, she set me up to watch a music video she thought I might like. When that was done, I went on to another that was suggested in the right margin. I recognized the name Taylor Swift and mostly enjoy her music, so I clicked on that one (not a song name I remember). The video that came up with it was an animated story.

Remember, this is aimed at young children. LPS1 is almost 9. We’re talking mid-elementary school-age, not middle school or higher. The animation was of children that looked her age.

There was a young boy who sees someone he knows along the sidewalk. His heart starts beating out beyond his chest, throbbing visibly. He’s embarrassed about how obvious it is, so he climbs a tree and takes a look from there. The other child he’s watching is reading a book while walking and tossing an apple up and down. Boy-in-tree’s heart bursts out of his chest and goes and replaces the apple. He must go get it back. So he sneaks up, reaches for it, accidentally gets the attention of the apple-tossing child. He’s awkwardly close, and even more embarrassed. But then their eyes lock, and suddenly his love is reciprocated.

If you’re assuming the apple-tossing child is a girl, you should still see how ridiculous this is. Boys this age think girls have cooties, and girls know this about boys too. This is years before they’re interested in falling in love with someone. So the story is a lie. Cute? Maybe, but a lie. A girl who is suddenly confronted by a boy who invades her personal space, whether or not she recognizes his crush on her, is going to go “Eww! Get away!”

But the apple-tossing child, who is the target of the tree-climbing boy’s heart throb, is a very cool looking boy. The kind who does well in sports and wears casually cool clothes, and is just cool without even thinking about it. This other boy, who was perfectly comfortable in his nine-year-old world, is not going to suddenly feel romantic love for this odd boy who has just invaded his space.
First, only 2% of the adult population is attracted to the same sex. Among nine-year-olds next to 0% are. They’re not romantically attracted to anyone at that age. Boys are, however, attracted to boys in another way at this age. They want to be around the boys they like, that they admire, that they share interests with. It’s about learning to develop friendships. Any hint that this attraction is sexual is a lie, and it’s harmful. Another harmful lie is that, if you’re this age and not interested in girls, and you prefer to be with boys, you ought to start worrying that you might be gay.

Media and societal lies of this sort don’t do what they purport to intend: they do not get people over their supposed prejudices. These lies don’t get to truth. They have nothing to do with truth.
I have a word for this type of lie: heteromorphism. Look at the word anthropomorphism, which means attributing characteristics of humans (Anthropos) to animals, to make them (morph) human-like. So heteromorphism means attributing characteristics of heterosexuals to homosexuals.

Are homosexuals and their relationships the same as heterosexuals and their relationships with just the gender substitution? That’s is becoming a common belief. And it’s tempting to believe.

I don’t have a wide range of acquaintance with homosexuals in my life. I’ve had my share of teachers and co-workers. But because most of my circle consists of working at home, going to church, relating to other families with growing or grown children, I don’t frequently interact with that 2% of the population. But there are friends of friends, and I’m sympathetic. There’s a tendency among us to assume that these are people pretty much like us. They find someone they are attracted to and want to spend their life with, and if we just get out of their way and let them live the way they want, isn’t that the decent thing to do?

If you read Monday’s post, I think you’ll see that’s the view of Roaming Millennial. That’s why she so clearly separated pedophiles from LGBTs. Because LGBTs are just like us except for some harmless quirky differences, but pedophiles are nothing like us.

If that’s true, it will hold up to scrutiny.

Here’s some data:

·         A majority of male homosexuals (according to the CDC in 1997) have over 500 sexual partners in their lifetime. Among the first several hundred AIDS patients, their average was 1100.[i]
·         Homosexual males average 22 sexual partners per year (almost two new partners per month).
·         Married homosexual males average 8 sexual partners per year.[ii]
·         Lesbians average 50 male sexual partners in their lifetime (compared to an average of 12 for women who only have sex with men).[iii]
·         Most “committed” homosexual relationships end within three years.[iv]
·         Nearly all (possibly all—studies ended when none could be found) long-term “committed” homosexual relationships accommodate infidelity as acceptable.[v]
·         Self-identified homosexual teens (not questioning or bisexual) have pregnancy rates two to seven times greater than heterosexuals in their demographic. 10% of males who consider themselves homosexual or questioning have had enough sex with females to have caused a pregnancy.[vi]
·         Homosexual teens are twice as likely to be sexually active as heterosexual teens.
·         Adult male homosexuals have a life expectancy twenty years shorter than the total male population; those with AIDS have even less time.[vii]
·         Homosexuals are statistically more likely to suffer the entire gamut of mental illness than the rest of society—as much as 6 times higher.[viii]
·         Almost 50% of male homosexuals and 55% of females have suffered abuse requiring hospitalization caused by a sexual partner. When emotional abuse is included, 83% of males and 84% of females have been abused by a partner.[ix]
·         17% of young men in America are sexually abused before adulthood, more than 86% by homosexual men. Mathematically, this means that a child molester is statistically 10 to 20 times more likely to be a homosexual than a heterosexual.[x]
·         73% of homosexuals surveyed had sex with boys sixteen to nineteen years of age or younger.[xi]
·         Homosexual males are three times more likely than straight men to engage in pedophilia, and the average pedophile victimizes between 20 and 150 boys before being arrested.[xii]
·         Though homosexuals make up just two percent of the U.S. population, homosexuals commit 33 percent of the pedophilia crimes.
·         About 40 percent of homosexuals have been victims of childhood sexual abuse or adult sexual violence.
We could also mention that homosexual couples do not engage in the sexual act that heterosexual couples engage in. It may be that there’s a lack of oxytocin or other hormone, which bonds heterosexual couples, and that explains why most homosexual couples are neither committed nor exclusive. They don’t get the satisfaction that committed heterosexual couples get, so they keep searching and not finding.

There’s more bad news, but I think we’ve brought up enough questions for today.

I know I tend to think that the friends of friends I know who are in homosexual relationships must be the rare committed cases. But social science data shows the likelihood of that to be low. I’m probably more accurate if I don’t heteromorphize, even though my sympathies make me want to.

Another day we’ll have to talk about which is kinder: pretending there’s no difference and encouraging their behavior, or offering an alternative?

What is most distressing from the data is the strong correlation between homosexuality and pedophilia. Roaming Millennial was so clear that there’s a total separation. But she didn’t know the data that I did, even though it’s been around a long time.[xiii] And she hasn’t been aware of the normalizing she’d been subjected to her whole lifetime.

But she is right: normalizing has crossed a line.

There’s more normalizing of the LGBT agenda to cover. I’ll get to that in a Part III.

Stated another way, all couples with a relationship lasting more than five years have incorporated some provision for outside sexual activity in their relationships. No “monogamous” relationship among men longer than the ones set out in this book have been documented.

If the same pattern of mortality were to continue, we estimate that nearly half of gay and bisexual men currently aged 20 years will not reach their 65th birthday.”
[viii] Homosexual conduct has consequences for mental health. There is a well-documented correlation between homosexuality and suicide and mental illness. See, e.g., Theo B. M. Sandfort, De Graaqf, Bilj, and Schable, “Same-Sex Sexual Behavior and Psychiatric Disorders:  Findings from the Netherlands Mental Health Survey and Incidence Study,” 85 (Archives of General Psychiatry 85 (January 2001) (“The findings support the assumption that people with same-sex behavior are at greater risk for psychiatric disorders”); Richard Herrell, et al., “Sexual Orientation and Suicidality,” Archives of General Psychiatry 867 (October 1999) (“Same-gender sexual orientation is significantly associated with each of the suicidality measures” and “is unlikely to be due solely to substance abuse or other psychiatric co-morbidity”); David M. Fergusson, et al., “Is Sexual Orientation Related to Mental Health Problems and Suicidality in Young People?” Archives of General Psychiatry 876 (October 1999) (“Findings support recent evidence suggesting that gay, lesbian, and bisexual young people are at increased risk of mental health problems, with these associates being particularly evident for measures of suicidal behavior and multiple disorder.”)  While some may argue that these findings are “caused by society oppression” (J Michael Bailey, “Homosexuality and Mental Illness,” Archives of General Psychiatry 883 and 884 October 1999), this is not the only possible explanation. The survey of findings from the Netherlands Mental Health Survey and Incidence Study found a significant greater risk for psychiatric disorders among homosexuals, even though “the Dutch social climate toward homosexuality has long been and remains considerably more tolerant” than most of the world. Sandfort, et al, above, at 89. Other possible explanations include hypotheses that “homosexuality represents a deviation from normal development and is associated with other such deviations that may lead to mental illness,” and that “increased psychopathology among homosexual people is a consequence of lifestyle differences associated with sexual orientation.”  J. Michael Bailey, above, at 884. Also, Sandfort et al., above, at 85-91.  (Youth are four times more likely to suffer major depression, also three times as likely to suffer generalized anxiety disorder, nearly four times as likely to experience conduct disorder, four times as likely to commit suicide, five times as likely to have nicotine dependence, six times as likely to suffer multiple disorders, and over six times as likely to have attempted suicide. Additionally, this research originates in the Netherlands where homosexuality is much more mainstream and accepted.)  Substance abuse is an additional health concern of those in the homosexual lifestyle:  Timothy J. Dailey, “The Negative Health Effects of Homosexuality” and associated notes, Family Research Council “The Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychologists reports that lesbian women consume alcohol more frequently, and I larger amounts, than heterosexual women. Lesbians were at significantly greater risk than heterosexual women for both binge drinking (19.4 percent compared to 11.7 percent), and for heavy drinking (7 percent compared to 2.7 percent)….Among men, by far the most important risk group consisted of homosexual and bisexual men, who were more than nine times as likely as heterosexual men to have a history of problem drinking.”

Turnell, “A Descriptive Analysis of Same-Sex Relationship Violence for a Diverse Sample,” Journal of Family Violence, 281 (2000) (finding that 44% of gay men report having experienced physical violence in their relationships, including 14% reporting sexual violence, with 83% reporting emotional abuse. Among lesbians:  55% acknowledge having experienced physical violence, 14% report sexual abuse and 84% report emotional abuse); See also, U.S. Department of Justice Study, Citizen Magazine (January 2000) (reporting that the U.S. Justice Study found an epidemic of violence between homosexuals: an annual average of 13,740 male victims of violence by homosexual partners and 16,900 victims by lesbian partners. By contrast, the most recent numbers—1999—for “hate crimes” based on sexual orientation totaled a relatively low 1,558 victims). See also New York Times article “Alleged Murder Is Further Proof of Domestic Violence as Major Health Risk of Homosexuals, Traditional Values Group Says,” available at http://www.afaanwpa.org, quoting Diane Gramley, president of the American Family Association of Northwestern Pennsylvania: “The truth is that acts of outside aggression against individuals involved in homosexual behavior, while always highly publicized, are rare. The far greater threat of violence to individuals involved in homosexual relationships—a staggering 50,000 percent higher risk, according to research by homosexual activists themselves—is the epidemic of domestic violence such individuals commit against each other.”  See also David Island and Patrick Letellier, Men Who Beat the Men Who Love Them, p. 14, “The probability of violence occurring in a gay couple is mathematically double the probability of that in a heterosexual couple…we believe as many as 650,000 gay men may be victims of domestic violence each year in the United States.”

Sex researchers Freund, Heasman, Racansky, and Glancy, for example, in a 1984 Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy article, put the number at 36%. Erickson, Walbek, Sely, in a 1988 Archives of Sexual Behavior article, places it at 86% when the children being molested are male (citing W. D. Erickson et al, “Behavior Patterns of Child Molesters,” 17 Archives of Sexual Behavior 1, 83 (1988), supra note 1 at 83). …It should be noted that homosexuals account for only 2% of the population which statistically means that a child molester is ten to twenty times more likely to be homosexual than heterosexual.”  See also K. Normalizing Has Already Crossed the Line

I know, in this day and age, tolerance and understanding is seen as a virtue above all else. There’s a line that can be crossed with this kind of thing.
That’s a quote from conservative video blogger Roaming Millennial, from a post about the recent movement to normalize pedophilia. Is that happening? Yes. She shares a video from Salon from a year ago, featuring a man who refers to himself as a “virtuous” pedophile—a person with a sexual preference, or orientation toward children who knows acting on it would be wrong, so he is a non-offending pedophile.

Then, more recently, there was another step: rebranding, she calls it. They prefer the term Minor Attracted Persons, or MAPs, instead of pedophiles, since pedophile is an emotionally charged word.

Meanwhile, I also came across a TedX video from a month ago that attempts to normalize pedophilia as just another sexual preference that wasn’t chosen. The student at the University of Würzbrug, Mirjam Heine, who gave the talk received so much negative response that she asked to have it removed, for her safety, although others have resurrected it to make sure it can’t be hidden.

attempting to normalize pedophilia, screen shot

Here’s the transcript from a minute-long segment

It is in our responsibility to reflect and overcome our negative feelings about pedophiles, and to treat them with the same respect we treat other people with. We should accept that pedophiles are people who have not chosen their sexuality, and who, unlike most of us, will never be able to live it out freely, if they want to live an upright life. We should accept that pedophilia is a sexual preference, a thought, a feeling, and not an act. We should differentiate between child sexual abuse and pedophilia. We shouldn’t increase the suffering of pedophiles by excluding them, by blaming and mocking them. By doing that, we increase their isolation, and we increase the chance of child sexual abuse.
Roaming Millennial refers to the movement, rather than this particular talk or the uproar it caused. But she says some useful things in her post. Offering the point of view of those who want to normalize, she says,

Some people argued that by destigmatizing pedophilia as a condition, we could encourage those who suffer from it to seek help without the fear of being immediately shamed and ostracized for an attraction they don’t have control over. It was posited that by bringing pedophilia out of the shadows, so to speak, in a way we would have a better chance of controlling and monitoring it.
Which she says she wouldn’t argue with, except that, then they do the rebranding thing—using words that mean the same vile thing, but trying to make it sound like pedophilia is not inherently a bad thing. The non-supportive side (which she is on) has this point of view:

A lot of people were critical of Salon’s interest in this individual, since they believed it was an attempt to normalize pedophilia, to make it mainstream, to paint it as just this quirky preference that some people happen to have, instead of what it really is: a serious mental illness that could cripple lives and increase a person’s likelihood of being a child abuser. That was, I think, the overall consensus for most of us.
There are those who think only actions matter, not thoughts. I want to look at this a little closer later on. But she says,

Your thoughts do matter. And yes, even thinking about molesting a child, whether or not you go through with it, is something to be worried about, something you should really be getting help for. Think of it this way: if you’re someone who commits serial murders, that’s bad. We can all agree. But if you’re someone who merely fantasizes about mutilating and murdering people on a regular basis, that’s still not good. Sexualizing children, fantasizing about them in a sexual way—that is an immoral act in and of itself, something that you do need help with, that you should work on treating.
She has a good point, and I agree.

But there’s something that I look at differently from a millennial, because of my age and experience. It has to do with that line that we all agree shouldn’t and won’t be crossed. Because, as we’ve seen before, those lines do get crossed. And the movement she’s seeing in the past couple of years has been well underway since the 1990s,[i] and has been part of the “Gay Rights Platform” since 1972.[ii]
Because of her millennial perspective, she makes a point of separating the pedophilia normalization movement from the LGBT “community.” She says,

And, just to make sure everyone understands this, because this is important, this move by pedophiles to leach onto the LGBT community and their movement for equality and acceptance has not been well received by the LGBT community themselves. A lot of gay or trans activists want to make sure people know that pedophilia is not the same as a mutual consensual attraction between two adults, nor does it have anything to do with gender dysphoria or gender identity.
This all comes before the “there’s tolerance, but there’s a line” idea. So, repeating the quote I used at the top, this is how she ends the segment:

And, I know, in this day and age, tolerance and understanding is seen as a virtue above all else. There’s a line that can be crossed with this kind of thing. And I think it’s safe to say that that line is about a thousand miles down the road of actual literal pedophilia. Pedophilia acceptance isn’t going to happen. Stop trying to make it happen.
I’m not disagreeing with her about the difference. I’m trying to understand something broader. She believes that the LGBT “community” is made up of wholesome,[iii] regular people who just happen to have a different orientation. Probably most millennials believe that. But a generation ago that wasn’t a common belief. There’s been a change in society’s perspective about orientation.

Is sexual orientation a thing you’re born with and can’t change? That is the general agreement. But there is zero scientific evidence that sexual orientation is genetically caused. While there may be some genetic component contributing to sexual orientation, if it were genetic, then all identical twins would have the same orientation, and that is not the case.[iv]

Also, the other question is, is it immutable? That is yet another bit of “common knowledge” that is not based on fact. While it is common for a person with same-sex attraction to maintain that orientation throughout life, thousands have changed. Not just one or two, but thousands. In the range of 20-30% or those who seek change therapy.[v] And then there are additional many who leave the lifestyle, or avoid the lifestyle completely. There are yet others who, while still feeling same-sex attraction, are also able to develop a heterosexual relationship and even have a happy marriage.

It is so politically incorrect to state these facts that it feels illegal. Persecution can be fierce and cruel. While my obscurity mostly keeps me safe, even in church circles where I assume most people agree with me, I have received vitriolic responses.

For the person who doesn’t want to suffer with same-sex attraction, there isn’t much opportunity for change therapy. Most of what is available comes from religious organizations and help groups of people who have faced the challenge with some success. But, after the political decision around 1970 to declare homosexuality to be just another healthy alternative, most research stopped, most therapy stopped, and therapists who offer help are threatened and risk losing their licenses.[vi]

So, here’s a question I have: Even though we all (we decent people) agree that pedophilia is a bad thing and should not be normalized or accepted, and activists should stop trying to make it so, I’ve lived long enough to know that Roaming Millennial might be wrong when she says, “pedophilia acceptance isn’t going to happen.” What happens if it is normalized? What if we are persuaded to believe it is simply an inborn, unchosen orientation, and those who have it might be just as healthy and normal as the rest of us (maybe still provided they don’t act on it, but no guarantees there), and those of us who nevertheless worry about them being around our children are punished and ostracized by society for our intolerance? And we’re forced to send our children to schools where they are indoctrinated with this new belief?

I have more questions. It’s going to take another post to try to explore them. So we’ll continue this discussion in a Part II.

Defending the Boy Scouts, Part II

I got this Norman Rockwell painting on a
magnet as a reminder of the day
I got to pin the Eagle badge on my son.
In the last post I made the assertion that those pressuring to change the Boy Scouts of America rules to allow active homosexuals as leaders and members have a real agenda of wanting to destroy the Boy Scouts. They don’t want to join them; they want them not to exist. This post offers evidence.
This isn’t going to be pretty. It involves talking math, and unfortunately also discussion of pedophilia. My apologies. There are also footnotes worth following. (If you look up the references, some of them will lead to additional references, which I do not list.)
The number of children who undergo molestation is not precisely known, but can be estimated, as has been done in a number of studies. Logic tells us there are four combinations possible: male molester/female child victim; female molester/female child victim; male molester/male child victim; female molester/male child victim. For our question about the Boy Scouts, we can delete female victims for both male and female predators, simply because girls don’t belong to the Boy Scouts.[i]
Homosexuals make up about 1.5% of the population, according to careful research. Frequently this number is cited as 3%. The homosexual community often makes the unsupported claim that they make up 10% of the population. Some of the data I’m about to present uses the generous percentage of 2%. So, using that compromise, we can logically assume that heterosexual molestation comes from the 98% of heterosexual population. Same-sex molestation, therefore, comes from 2% of the population.
About 17% of young men in America are sexually abused before adulthood. Only a small percentage of these are female molester/male victim cases. For comparison, some estimates are that one in four girls (25%) will be molested (which goes up to one in three for females during their lifetime), the vast majority are male molester/female victim cases—in other words, coming from the 98% heterosexual population. The male abuser/male victim cases, then, come from the 2% of the population that are homosexual.
Note that the data does not imply that all homosexuals are predators; that is certainly not the case. However, the risk of someone in that demographic being a predator is much much higher than in the population at large. And at this point we don’t have a way for a “safe” homosexual to certify that they are one of the harmless ones.
Here are a couple of summaries from those who have done the math. This first one is from Steve Baldwin in “Child Molestation and the Homosexual Movement”[ii] :
Family Research Institute founder and psychologist Paul Cameron, reviewing more than nineteen different academic reports and peer reviewed studies in a 1985 Psychological Reports article, found that homosexuals account for between 25% and 40% of all child molestation. Sex researhers Freund, Heasman, Racansky, and Glancy, for example, in a 1984 Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy article, put the number at 36%. Erickson, Walbek, Sely, in a 1988 Archives of Sexual Behavior article, places it at 86% when the children being molested are male.
However, it should be noted that homosexuals account for only 2% of the population which statistically means that a child molester is ten to twenty times more likely to be homosexual than heterosexual. In other words, heterosexual molestations proportionally are a fraction compared to homosexual molestations. More recent studies confirm this statistic. In 2000, the Archives of Sexual Behavior published an article by seven sex researchers concluding that ‘‘around 25-40% of men attracted to children prefer boys. Thus the rate of homosexual attraction is 6-20 times higher among pedophiles."
There are additional versions of the research. One study by homosexual activists and researchers revealed that 73% of homosexuals surveyed had sex with boys sixteen to nineteen years of age or younger.[iii] Additional studies compare female and male targets as well as homosexual vs. heterosexual predators, such as this one: “Child molestation, by comparison, was a relatively infrequent crime occurring from an average of 23.2 times by a pedophile (nonincest) with female targets to an average of 281.7 times by a pedophile (nonincest) whose targets were males.”[iv]
Baldwin makes specific references to pedophilia infiltration within the Boy Scouts:
When a California family sued the Scouts in 1993 for exposing their son to a Scout leader who molested him, the Scouts were ordered to turn over 25,000 pages of documents to the plaintiff.  This unprecedented glimpse into the world of Scout pedophiles revealed that thousands of boys had been molested by Scout leaders and other volunteers between 1971 and 1991 resulting in the expulsion of over 1,800 Scout volunteers for pedophile activity. The documents show that some Scout leaders molested over forty boys before getting caught, and that many, once caught, simply moved to a different Scout troop and continued abusing boys.
Gay activists have spun the Scout molestation epidemic as a heterosexual problem. Examination of many of the higher profile cases, however, reveals that Scout molesters are attracted exclusively to boys and many lead mainstream gay lifestyles. John Hemstreet is a typical example. Hemstreet is a convicted child molester, former Boy Scout leader, and currently the President of the Toledo, Ohio, chapter of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). PFLAG is one of the groups leading the nationwide attack on the Boy Scouts of America.
Incredibly, the pro-pedophile group North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA), which calls itself a homosexual group, wrote a letter to the national Scout office urging “the Boy Scouts of America to cease its discrimination against openly gay or lesbian persons in the appointment of its scout masters and its scouters and in its membership. This will permit scouts to be exposed to a variety of life styles and will permit more of those individuals who genuinely wish to serve boys to do so.”
NAMBLA used to make even other homosexual groups uncomfortable. But in the last couple of decades they have been embraced as part of the movement. You will find them represented at any gay parade or bookstore; they have been mainstreamed. NAMBLA has actually published information instructing pedophiles on how to become Boy Scout leaders, and other ways to profile, lure, befriend, and rape a child, then avoid detection and prosecution.[v]
People who think the argument is about eliminating discrimination against a harmless, helpful segment of the population are being duped.
Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has responded by improving and increasing sexual molestation prevention training; I have been through it, more than once. Even volunteers at a Cub Scout day camp must have received the training and must abide by safety policies, such as two-deep leadership.

I know in Scout troops we have been involved in, sponsored by our church (and Latter-day Saints sponsor more troops in the US than any other sponsor), do not allow youth to be led by anyone of any sexual orientation that engages in sex outside of marriage. There is no discrimination against a segment of the population; there is discrimination against behaviors that do not qualify as moral to religious people. And the Boy Scouts is a tool for raising boys into moral men. It is not the only such tool, but it has been a good one.
If the Boy Scouts fail to remain true to their long stated mission, they will be less useful as a tool. If they stand strong, they may lose funding because of the pressure from the homosexual community on donating corporations. If the Boy Scouts give in, they may lose sponsorship by most of their individual troop sponsors. (I can’t say for certain that will happen, or when, but it does appear to me to be a likely eventuality.[vi])
What I can say for certain is that allowing homosexual leadership will have two certain outcomes: First, teaching boys to be “morally straight,” i.e., sexually pure, will be more difficult. Second, more boys will be exposed to the risk of sexual predators. Resisting the pro-homosexual pressure is the only way for the the Boy Scouts to meet their mission for boys.

[i] In some Explorer level troops, girls do participate. The number is so small compared to the general population of the Boy Scouts that I do not include them in the equation. Likewise, there are women leaders, in Cub Scouts as well as some peripheral leadership positions in regular Scout troops, but not as Scout Masters, and never as leadership during overnight activities without male leadership present. So, while female predators cannot be 100% eliminated, they are clearly not part of the question about allowing homosexual leaders.

[v] Jeffery Curley, age 10, was raped and murdered Oct. 1 1997. The perpetrators had in their possession NAMBLA materials, as well as a book, “Rape and Escape,” published by NAMBLA. They used an idea from the NAMBLA materials to lure the boy. The family sued NAMBLA for its contribution to the murder of their son; the ACLU defended NAMBLA pro bono, claiming NAMBLA has 1st amendment rights to free speech; ironically, the ACLU requested a gag order against the prosecution and asked for witnesses who testified in the Curley case concerning the NAMBLA information to be disallowed.
